How to keep your carpet looking good with kids

Carpets are the most popular home flooring type and we know exactly why. Carpets create a sense of warm and cosiness into your home, it also helps protect from any nasty bumps or scraps that your kids might get from a harder flooring material. But what do you need to consider when planning on getting some new carpet installed? Today’s blog is all about having carpets in your home and how to look after it when you’ve got kids.

Choosing the right carpet

There are different styles and brands of carpets that are all differently tailored to different homes. So it’s important that you choose the right one for your home. As well as carpet type, you need to consider your home, so if you have younger children, if you have pets or if you have an incredibly high or low footfall, this all needs to be taken into consideration.

Once you’ve done your research on which carpet works best in your home, it might then be worth setting down some home rules. They could be as simple as no shoes in the house, no eating or drinking on the new carpet or anything else that you think would keep your carpet looking as good as new for as long as possible. Then once those rules are in place, you need to ensure that you’re keeping to them as well, you need to lead by example.

But of course, no matter how careful you are, accidents do happen. In order to sort accidents before they turn into a bigger mess, make sure you have the right cleaning solutions. When cleaning up the spills, use a dabbing motion rather than a rubbing motion as that can smear it even deeper into the carpet.
