Carpet in the dining room, yes or no?

Home interior designs change over the years, but generally it’s been a big no no to have carpet in the dining room just for the hygiene and cleaning aspect. Here at Welch Mill Carpets Warrington, we’ve seen a massive shift in flooring since open plan living areas have become more of a trend. But then you’re left with the decision of what flooring do you choose when your living room, dining room and kitchen all flow into one?

Carpets are a perfect flooring style to create a feeling of warmth, cosiness and homelieness. As opposed to a cold, floors like laminate or real wood. And now that things are changing, why not have carpet in your dining room?

The main reason people choose not to put carpet in a dining room is because of the staining that can happen if you drop food or drinks on the floor. If that happens on a hard flooring type, it can be quickly picked up and cleaned away without any worries about stains being left. But now with the latest carpet technology, you can install carpets with peace of mind knowing they will be easy to clean.

Carpet manufacturers and brands such as Cormar Carpets have developed carpets that are now categorised as Easy Clean and Stain Resistant. These styles of carpets are made of polypropylene, which is a material that is bleach cleanable. So not only is it hard wearing, it’s easy to clean and also has a super soft and comfortable underfoot feeling.

If you do have any issues with dropping food or drinks onto a bleach cleanable carpet, then you need to use a solution that is 1 part bleach to 10 parts water in order to clean up. It’s always advised to pick up as much solid food as possible, then using a clean towel work from the outside in. Also always use a blotting motion, never scrub or rub up and down.
