How to protect your carpet and keep it looking as good as new!

Carpets are the nations most used flooring types and there is no surprise why! It’s now comes in a range of colours and patterns, not to mention stain resistant and bleach cleanable. You can also choose from natural fibres or man made fibres, there really is something suitable for every home. And since it’s such a big part of your home, you want to do as much as you can in order to keep it looking as good as new, for as long as possible.

We have years of experience within the flooring industry and we like to think that we have picked up a few handy tips and tricks that you can put into place in order to take care of your carpets.

One of the easiest way you can look out for your carpet is by not wearing shoes in the house. Shoes bring in dirt that sometimes you can even see but it can build up in your carpet. If you don’t want to ask visitors to take their shoes off then why not have good quality mats at the door so they can wipe their feet instead?

Second, and this one won’t be much of a surprise, but hoovering regularly will make a huge difference.

Another small change you can make that will help improve your flooring is a protection spray. These sprays can be a life saver in busy households, however it’s worth testing the spray out in a small area of carpet that is hidden away. This is to make sure the spray is suitable for your carpet and won’t damage or stain anything.

When it comes to spill and stains, it’s important not to let anything sit on the carpet. It needs to be mopped up as soon as possible. And don’t forget, always use a blotting motion, don’t wipe it backwards and forwards.
