But some of the most common questions we get is about how resistant laminate can be. So we have decided to create a blog post on some of these questions!
Water resistance of laminate flooring?
Most laminate is water resistant, but not waterproof. So the difference means if you do spill something onto the floor and wipe it up, it won’t have an effect. However if liquids are left to soak in, then they can start to damage the panels. If you are looking for something water proof, then you may be more interested in vinyl.
Is laminate wear resistant?
Laminate is rated using an AC Rating. And what that basically tells the consumer is how wear resistant the panels are. It ranges from AC1 to AC5, the higher the number, the more wear and footfall the laminate can deal with. AC1 is recommended for residential use, but mostly in rooms with low to moderate useage. Whereas AC5 is for commercial use, with very heavy traffic, for example department stores.
Is laminate stain resistant?
The top layer of laminate is what makes it both stain resistant and protects it from any minor damage. It’s perfect for busy homes as most marks will come off with a wipe or sometimes you might need some specific cleaner. But as long as you don’t leave an liquids to seep into the laminate then you will be find!
